President’s Report to the 2011 AGM

Dear members,

Valued members, it has been another difficult year, but with the committed work put in by the members of your committee, we have managed to keep your club on an even keel.

Special thanks has to go to Clive Scott, our treasurer, whose hard work and diligence has kept our heads above water. Also Paul Scoble, (your club chairman) who has worked hard to keep our bar prices competitive despite the efforts of our friendly taxman.

Our House Committee have once again kept the Club in good order. Dave Spence and Andy Cunningham have worked miracles with very limited funds.

The “Racing Boys” do a great deal to boost the Club funds, as was demonstrated recently with the Cheltenham Festival. Snooker and billiards is under the watchful eye of Maurice Carden, who has been playing here since the “old King” died. Pool is proving popular thanks to the efforts put in by Shane Bacon and Ben Haynes. We are looking at raising a league team.

Special thanks also to Alison, our Steward and Carol, the Assistant Steward.

It is my pleasure to announce the following names who this year qualify for life membership:- Cyril Bacon, Sidney Taylor, John Squires, Peter Street and Eric Taylor.

Also, I have to announce the sad passing of David Weller who will be greatly missed.

The Committee, made up of Paul Scoble, Clive Scott, Bill Adams, Dave Spence, Les Benjamin, Peter Whiting, Yvonne Pickford, Andy Cunningham and Mark Amos, have all worked hard over the past year. Some new faces to help them out would be good!

To conclude, I would like to thank you, the members, for your continued support.

R. Gibb
President
